Times are A-Changin’

More downtown shops, restaurants and services that are open later. Unique urban experiences. A caring and collaborative community.

These were some of the things that our community asked for based on the findings from the ShapeDTK summit. And here are some ways that our awesome, reactive city and BIA committees are already acting on them...

Tonight, May 26th from 7 - 11pm is the 2nd annual Luna Market at Carl Zehr Square.

While this is the 2nd annual Luna Market it exemplifies the goals that were brought forward from our community. This market brings together our thriving local community of holistic practitioners and retailers and eco-friendly designers. Carl Zehr Square provides a great venue for night markets and these initiatives get people checking out the stores, supporting local business owners and making the downtown a more lively place to be.

On Thursday June 1st from 6 - 10pm let’s celebrate Goudies Lane!

In our opinion, this is an initiative that’s getting us thinking like some of the most innovative laneway cities such as Melbourne or Montreal. It is the start of something great. So on Thursday June 1st join us in Goudies Lane, outside of the J&P Grocery entrance, for the transformation of one of Kitchener’s most iconic laneways into a pedestrian-only outdoor patio area! This block party celebration will be featuring live mural painting, great live music and a chance to celebrate the laneways history and future with your community.

Thursday June 8th from 5 - 11pm is the first annual DTK Patio Crawl.

Ask and you will receive!

You asked for a more lively and energetic nighttime presence in the downtown core. So the licenced patio owners of DTK have announced their first annual DTK Patio Crawl!! On Thursday June 8th from 5pm to 11pm (weather permitting) grab some friends and a pint or two and celebrate with a chance to win two grand prizes and the certainty that you will have a blast.
